13 Verlot Ranger Station

That's 'vurr-LOTT'   (not like the wine)

This is an absolute "can't miss" stop when traveling the Mountain Loop. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, or CCC, in the 1930s, the station was recently remodeled and includes a fantastic display of the history and natural wonders of the Loop. You can purchase a Recreation Pass that gives you access to the many sites around the Loop, and you can gather all sorts of trail and hiking information at this Public Information Center. Owned and operated by the US Forest Service, great care was taken in the remodeling of the compound to preserve the integrity of the depression-era Northwest architecture and construction.
