Watch for signs of the trailhead, 13 miles from Granite Falls on the south side of Mountain Loop Highway. When the summer heat has had its effect, you can follow a pleasant 1 mile trail around the entire lake, providing views from all sides. You'll be passing huge firs and hemlocks, and cedar trees with trunks over ten feet wide, covered in ferns and moss and an incredible variety of mushrooms.
